New agenda for cooperation on European public administration
I am very glad that we have agreed on new priorities and work programmes for the coming 18-month period, comments Director General Yvonne Gustafsson, chair of the European Public Administration Network, EUPAN, during the Swedish Presidency.
During the Presidency of the European Union, Sweden is currently also chairing EUPAN, an informal network for European cooperation on public administration. Together with the coming Presidencies Sweden has developed medium term priorities and work programmes for EUPAN.
- The priorities emphasize the challenges facing the European public administrations, for example how we should steer and organise our public sector commitments in order to achieve a performing, sustainable public administration serving the citizens, says Ms. Gustafsson.
The new agenda includes priority areas for the continued work in the European Public Administration Network. The agenda also includes programmes for the three working groups focusing on human resources management, innovative government solutions and eGovernment.
- I do believe that the work programmes that we have developed will provide guidelines for the Member States, in order to meet the challenges facing the European public administrations in the wake of financial austerity. One such example is the coming project on European experiences with performance assessment models and how to make better use of public means, says Ms. Gustafsson.
